Jorge Denti’s documentary offers a vital departure from Western-centric biographical clichés by centering the narrative within the Latin American experience. It effectively uses primary sources to explore how regional socio-political realities shape individual roles. The film excels in its cultural and racial depth, moving beyond traditional hagiography to examine systemic shifts. By focusing on the 'open veins' of the continent, it provides a necessary lens into the Global South's historical struggles. While the film is culturally rich, it remains focused on a singular male figure. The inclusion of diverse identities, such as LGBTQ+ or disability perspectives, is not a primary driver of the storytelling.

Official Synopsis
Between 1952 and 1953, the young doctor Ernesto Guevara de la Serna traveled through Latin America. This film is based on his diaries, the correspondence with his family and friends, and the testimonies of those who knew him and accompanied him on this journey.
