Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Fair

While set in a post-war Balkan context, the narrative focuses on class and individual despair. It prioritizes the universal experience of being an outsider over a deliberate exploration of ethnic identity.

AI Analysis

Normal People is a study of generational malaise and social fragmentation. It avoids traditional hero arcs, focusing instead on characters defined by economic and emotional scarcity in a post-war landscape. The film succeeds as a critique of systemic failure, refusing to romanticize social stability. It centers on the marginalized experience of those left behind by historical shifts, providing a cynical, realistic view of society. However, the film lacks explicit intersectional markers. It relies on traditional romantic frameworks and gender tropes, offering little representation for LGBTQ+ identities or visible disabilities.
