Danny La Rue stars in this 1970s drag comedy as Fred Wimbush, a Shakespearean actor who is drafted into WWII and is appearing in a camp show in France when the Nazis advance. Unless he continues in his female costume, Fred is certain to be shot as a spy. The risque gags and double entendres fly as he attempts to make his escape in the company of a troupe of Girl Guides.

AI Analysis
Our Miss Fred stands as a progressive disruption of 1970s gender norms by centering a drag performer in a high-stakes wartime comedy. The use of camp aesthetics and the presence of a female-centric Girl Guide troupe challenge traditional hyper-masculine military tropes. However, the film is limited by the era's demographic standards, showing a lack of racial and ethnic diversity. The focus remains heavily on gender performance and situational farce rather than intersectional character development. Ultimately, the film succeeds in subverting gender presentation but fails to provide a diverse or inclusive cast beyond its central protagonist.
