Kid Sentiment captures the tension of the Quebecois Quiet Revolution as a cultural document. It excels by emphasizing the subjective experiences of youth over the rigid structures of mid-century society. The film's strength lies in its dismantling of traditional social norms and its celebration of modern, secular youth subcultures. By combining documentary and fiction, it fosters a space for quirkiness and emotional defiance. However, the film does not offer clear examples of diverse racial or LGBTQ+ identities or specific character arcs related to these communities.
