Uttoran is a social drama that explores the tension between modernity and tradition. It challenges the perceived superiority of urban, institutionalized logic over communal, traditional frameworks. The film's strength lies in its critique of class-based medical elitism. By presenting rural folk beliefs as a transformative force rather than mere superstition, it offers a platform for indigenous cultural expression. However, the film lacks explicit representation of LGBTQ+ identities or detailed explorations of gender roles.
