Where to Watch

Diversity & Representation

Overall Score

2.6/10

Limited

Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Minimal

The film lacks any discernible presence of LGBTQ+ characters or non-cisnormative identities. Social dynamics center on a traditional, heteronormative adventure ensemble without queer subtext.

Gender Representation

Limited

The narrative leans heavily into a male-centric model, concentrating agency in Tintin and Captain Haddock. Female characters remain on the periphery, lacking meaningful agency or subversion of patriarchal structures.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Limited

The cast is predominantly Eurocentric, reflecting the source material's historical context. While the plot involves an Andean expedition, the lens remains focused on the European protagonists' perspective.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Limited

The film operates within a conventional Western adventure framework. It prioritizes mystery resolution over anti-Western critiques, reinforcing the stability of the protagonist's world through a binary moral lens.

Disability Representation

Minimal

There is no significant depiction of visible or invisible disabilities. Characters are defined by the physical capabilities required for high-stakes adventure, offering no engagement with neurodivergence or impairment.

Strengths

  • Avoids the active promotion of harmful or malicious stereotypes.
  • Maintains a consistent, traditional adventure framework for mystery-solving.

Areas for Improvement

  • Increase female agency to move beyond peripheral, secondary roles.
  • Incorporate more diverse perspectives to move beyond a strictly Eurocentric lens.
  • Provide meaningful representation of neurodivergence or physical disabilities.

AI Analysis

The film follows a traditionalist adventure structure that prioritizes established pulp fiction tropes over intersectional representation. While it avoids actively promoting harmful stereotypes, the narrative scope remains narrow. Agency is concentrated in a male-dominated, Eurocentric ensemble. This focus limits the film's ability to engage with diverse perspectives or contemporary social complexities. Ultimately, the work functions as a classic mystery that reinforces existing social hierarchies rather than challenging them through diverse characterization.
