Maunu Kurkvaara's drama is a gritty social study of judicial error and institutional rigidity. The plot centers on the tension between an innocent man and a police force determined to secure a conviction regardless of the evidence. While the film offers a potential critique of state authority and systemic corruption, it remains a product of its era. The narrative is driven almost entirely by male figures, leaving little room for diverse perspectives. Ultimately, the film functions as a traditional realist crime drama. It lacks characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity, focusing instead on a narrow, homogeneous social landscape typical of mid-20th-century Finnish cinema.
