Land of Happiness is a historical drama that prioritizes systemic critique over identity diversity. The narrative strength lies in its deconstruction of institutional power and judicial corruption during a pivotal moment in South Korean history. However, the film lacks representation across several identity-based categories. The focus on a male-centric legal battle and a culturally homogeneous setting results in a narrow demographic scope. Ultimately, the film's value is found in its thematic engagement with political injustice rather than its diversity of character identities.
