Okie Noodling serves as a specialized ethnographic study of a niche, rural American subculture. It prioritizes raw, observational storytelling to document the tradition of hand-fishing for catfish in Oklahoma. The film operates within a conventional framework of rugged Americana. It focuses on a specific demographic and traditionalist way of life rather than attempting to disrupt social hierarchies or provide complex representations of diversity. Ultimately, the documentary functions as a portrait of a localized tradition. It lacks the diverse identity-driven storytelling or the subversion of norms necessary for a higher diversity score.

Official Synopsis
For centuries, a unique breed of fishermen has been catching monster catfish with their bare hands in the rivers and lakes of Oklahoma. Today, the tradition of "noodling" still has Okie anglers hooked. This documentary by Bradley Beesley features interviews with hardcore handfishing veterans as well as footage of real noodlers in action. Set against an original musical score by rock band The Flaming Lips, Okie Noodling offers an anecdotal look at a most unusual piece of Midwest American culture.
