Alice's Spooky Adventure is a product of its time, focusing on comedic-horror fantasy. While it centers a female character with ability to act, the narrative stays within the escapism and homogeneous archetypes of the 1920s. The film lacks complexity in representing diverse identities, sticking to traditional genre conventions without challenging established social hierarchies. Overall, it serves as a foundational animated piece prioritizing surreal adventure over progressive representation or systemic commentary.
Category Breakdown

Alice is a female protagonist who shows strength by entering a haunted house. While she avoids some passive stereotypes, the film does not deeply challenge gender hierarchies.
The story follows typical, homogeneous character types common in 1924 animation. There is no indication of a diverse cast or the use of non-human characters as racial symbols.
The dream-world setting focuses on standard adventure clichés rather than cultural critique. There is no evidence of secular messaging or challenges to Western institutions.
A physical accident triggers the dream sequence, serving as a plot device. It does not explore neurodivergence or physical disabilities meaningfully.
