Daughters of the Sun is a powerful drama that uses gender performance as a means of survival. By having Amangol adopt a male identity, the film explores how economic pressures can force a subversion of traditional gender norms. The film effectively combines critiques of both class and gender. It portrays the exploitation of rural workers through a vivid depiction of labor, where the physical demands of weaving symbolize broader systemic oppression. While the film provides a strong critique of patriarchal and economic hierarchies, it remains focused on a specific socio-economic struggle. The narrative depth lies in its resistance to traditional social structures rather than broad identity exploration.
