Paris Trout is a vile Southern bigot. He owns a store and is a loanshark. He often sues people, and so his lawyer, Harry Seagraves, eventually meets Paris' wife Hannah. A former schoolteacher, she made the mistake of her life when she married Paris, who brutalizes her. Soon Paris goes beyond the overgenerous bounds of what a man in his position can get away with even in the segregated South, leading to a spiral of perverse insanity.

AI Analysis
Paris Trout is a character study that prioritizes the deconstruction of traditional masculine authority and regional social structures. It moves away from conventional Southern archetypes to examine the psychological toll of systemic friction. The film succeeds in subverting gender tropes by highlighting the intellect of the female protagonist against a volatile, unstable patriarch. This provides a nuanced critique of domestic oppression and the corruption of small-town power. However, the narrative lacks visibility regarding LGBTQ+ identities and disability. While the segregated setting implies racial complexity, the focus remains heavily on the interpersonal conflict of the central white characters.
