New Showbiz Analysis

The film primarily functions as a traditional crime and horror thriller from the mid-1990s. While it offers a strong female lead who play a significant role in driving the story, the narrative lacks the broad diversity needed for a higher score. Liz Shaw stands out as a competent and intelligent female protagonist. However, the absence of racial or LGBTQ+ diversity indicates adherence to the cinematic norms of the time. Overall, the film remains a straightforward genre piece. It fails to provide the complex social layers or systemic subversion necessary to elevate it beyond a standard thriller experience.
