Leopoldo Torre Nilsson’s work excels at revealing the psychological decay of the Argentine upper class. By depicting traditional social, religious, and familial institutions as repressive, the film offers a nuanced critique of the 'civilized' West. However, the film lacks demographic diversity. It focuses on a homogeneous, white upper-class setting, offering little representation for LGBTQ+ identities or racial diversity. Ultimately, the film prioritizes thematic depth over demographic variety. It succeeds in challenging the stability of traditional hierarchies through moral ambiguity and exposing social hypocrisy.
