The film is a conventional genre piece that prioritizes action and crime clichés over social commentary. Its structure relies on established cinematic hierarchies of the late 1980s. Narrative focus remains on patriarchal succession and martial dominance. This results in a lack of diverse representation or character's ability to drive the story. While the production utilizes specific East Asian cultural elements, they serve genre purposes rather than exploring nuanced identities.
