Strangers May Kiss is a classic Pre-Code romantic drama that prioritizes escapism over social critique. It reinforces established social and gender norms rather than challenging them. The film lacks diverse perspectives, focusing instead on the romantic maneuvering of a high-society, white cast. While the female lead shows some independence, the narrative remains rooted in traditional romantic outcomes. Ultimately, the production adheres to the studio system's focus on glamour and conventional storylines, offering limited diverse representation or systemic commentary.
