The Border is a historical drama that prioritizes the psychological and moral complexities of the Finnish Civil War over modern multi-layered identity. It avoids simplistic heroic clichés, focusing instead on the friction between ideological mandates and individual conscience. While the film lacks demographic diversity, it achieves narrative depth by deconstructing the 'us vs. them' dichotomy. The story examines how rigid systems and binary oppositions fail when applied to real-world human situations. Ultimately, the film functions as a study of systemic dysfunction and the subjective nature of truth during political upheaval, rather than a showcase for diverse representation.
