AI Analysis

In the Name of Ben-Hur is a period action film that centers on a singular masculine archetype. The narrative structure is built around a gladiator's escape from Roman authority, which drives the plot toward a struggle against imperial hegemony. While the film lacks representation for LGBTQ+ identities and disabilities, it finds strength in its thematic critique of systemic power. By positioning the Roman state as an oppressor, the film creates space for stories of resistance and cultural defiance. Ultimately, the film's diversity is limited by its narrow focus on a male protagonist. It functions more as a traditional hero's journey than a nuanced exploration of intersectional identities.
