Synopsis

Carter Page III, a middle-aged gay man in Washington, D. C., is a "walker", a single man who escorts other men's wives to social events so the husbands do not have to. One of the women he escorts, Lynn Lockner, is the wife of a United States senator and is carrying on an affair with a lobbyist. When she finds the lobbyist murdered, she embroils Carter in an investigation that leads to the highest levels of the federal government.

AI Analysis

The Walker offers a sophisticated character study that challenges social hierarchies through its queer protagonist. It successfully disrupts conventional expectations of moral certainty and social stability. While the film excels in exploring non-heteronormative social roles, it is limited by a lack of racial diversity within its political setting. The narrative focuses heavily on the white-dominated corridors of power. Ultimately, the film provides a nuanced look at identity and institutional corruption, even if it remains somewhat traditional in its treatment of gendered vulnerability.
