The film's primary strength lies in its subversion of 1980s action clichés by centering a female lead who play a significant role in driving the story. Martine's professional struggles against a male commissioner offer a rare critique of gendered institutional hierarchies within the genre. However, the narrative remains limited by a lack of multi-layered depth. It adheres to the demographic and social norms of its era, offering little representation regarding race, sexuality, or disability. Ultimately, while it challenges traditional gender roles, it operates primarily as a standard crime thriller rather than a piece of systemic social critique.
