  • Integrates folk beliefs and supernatural elements that challenge secular moral frameworks.

Areas for Improvement

  • Lacks representation of LGBTQ+ identities or non-cisnormative gender expressions.
  • Relies on traditional heteronormative frameworks and male-driven romantic catalysts.

AI Analysis

The film serves as a localized psychological horror that prioritizes domestic tension over systemic critique. It succeeds in offering a non-Western perspective by centering Southeast Asian storytelling and folk traditions. However, the narrative remains largely traditional. It relies on heteronormative romantic structures and interpersonal melodrama rather than deconstructing social hierarchies or exploring intersectional identities. While the female characters possess agency, their conflict is driven by individual manipulation rather than a subversion of gender roles.
