Jambon d'Ardenne is a localized comedy centered on commercial rivalry and class-based friction. While it employs traditional comedic archetypes, it slightly subverts gender norms through its central female authority figure. The film lacks complexity in reflecting multiple aspects of identity, focusing instead on the tension between different economic structures and family-run establishments. It operates within the conventional social frameworks of 1977. Without explicit identity-driven narratives or diverse casting details, the work remains rooted in a traditional, homogeneous European context.

Official Synopsis
During the height of the tourist season, the rivalry between the manager of a slightly fancy restaurant and the proprietor of a nearby fast-food stand becomes quite heated, and shots are fired. In this comedy, the restaurant is run with an iron hand by its "patronne," and the help eventually have had enough. If that weren't sufficient trouble, the children of the owners of both establishments are romantically entangled, further infuriating the passions of the feuding food fanatics.
