AI Analysis

Peter Kosminsky’s direction brings a focus to the friction between individuals and the institutions that constrain them. The film succeeds in exploring the psychological weight of social class and the limitations placed upon female agency during the period. However, the production operates largely within established genre conventions. It prioritizes a classical romantic tragedy over a disruption of traditional narrative hierarchies or the inclusion of intersectional identities. Ultimately, the film provides moderate depth regarding social mobility but lacks significant representation of diverse identities or non-heteronormative perspectives.
