Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film integrates Ronnie Kray’s queer identity into his psychological instability rather than using it as a punchline. This nuanced approach explores the friction between his private life and the hyper-masculine criminal underworld.
Gender Representation
Female characters like Frances and Violet primarily serve as emotional anchors or collateral damage. They lack the agency to drive the plot, remaining reactive figures within a male-dominated landscape.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
The cast is largely a homogeneous white British group, reflecting the 1960s East End setting. The narrative focuses strictly on the localized, ethnic-specific dynamics of the London gangland scene.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The story employs moral relativism, presenting the twins' charisma alongside their brutality. It depicts a breakdown of traditional authority, framing the brothers as figures operating outside established social institutions.
Disability Representation
Ronnie Kray’s psychological volatility is a central, defining element of his character arc. However, the portrayal occasionally leans into the trope of using mental health to drive thriller elements.

AI Analysis
Legend is a specialized character study that succeeds by integrating non-normative identity into a rigid crime genre. By treating Ronnie Kray's sexuality and mental health as core psychological components, the film moves beyond simple biopic tropes. However, the film remains tethered to the demographic and gendered realities of its 1960s setting. The lack of racial diversity and the secondary roles of female characters reflect the historical period but limit the narrative's breadth. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its refusal to provide moral certainty, offering a complex, relativistic view of power and identity.
