Miss Mona is a powerful critique of socioeconomic stagnation that centers characters on the margins of social and legal structures. By focusing on the intersections of gender identity, immigrant status, and class struggle, the film challenges conventional morality. The narrative avoids a Western perspective, presenting a localized reality that deconstructs post-colonial power dynamics. It elevates a underrepresented protagonist to a position of leadership, disrupting traditional social hierarchies. Ultimately, the film celebrates the resilience of those on the fringes of the established social order, using their survival to highlight systemic neglect.
