The film explores the fragility of the traditional nuclear family using a historical war setting. It succeeds by bringing queer identity to the forefront of the narrative, giving significant weight to the subtext of identity. However, the film's impact is limited by its lack of racial diversity, which remains within a white, middle-class Danish context. This homogeneity reflects the period's social constraints but prevents a more inclusive perspective. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its willingness to challenge traditional patriarchal and straight-centered structures. It prioritizes the deconstruction of social norms over promoting conventional familial ideals.
