Sweet Curse primarily functions as a genre-driven romantic fantasy. While the supernatural premise introduces unconventional relationships, the film lacks the intention to challenge broader social hierarchies. The narrative is heavily centered on male interpersonal conflicts, particularly jealousy and male desirability. This focus limits the scope of gendered representation and ability to act within the story. The film provides representation within a non-Western context but remains a culturally specific character study without engaging in systemic or multi-layered critiques.
