New Showbiz Analysis

Red and White 2: Blood of Eagles is a nationalist historical drama that finds its strength in its portrayal of the Indonesian National Revolution. By centering characters of color fighting for sovereignty, the film provides a significant role in driving the story to those involved in the struggle for independence. However, the film remains tied to traditional social hierarchies. The narrative structure is heavily focused on male soldiers and combat units, without diversifying gender or sexual orientation. Ultimately, while the film succeeds in reclaiming historical ability to act from a non-Western perspective, it does not significantly disrupt conventional gender or social frameworks.
