New Showbiz Analysis

Alexander Korda’s production offers a sophisticated look at Victorian social etiquette and class-based morality. It exposes the shaky foundations of political success and social reputation. However, the film lacks demographic diversity, focusing on a specific socio-economic elite. While it challenges the perceived perfection of the ruling class, it does so through a traditional lens. Ultimately, the film prioritizes restoring social order over disrupting systemic power dynamics.
