New Showbiz Analysis

Comeback succeeds in subverting traditional patriarchal hierarchies by positioning a younger female character, Ellie, as the catalyst for the male protagonists' actions. This shift in ability to act provides a refreshing narrative structure that moves beyond standard rock-and-roll clichés. The film avoids sanitized storytelling by delving into the complexities of addiction and recovery. By focusing on the fallout of fame and the consequences of substance abuse, it offers a more nuanced look at human struggle. However, the film lacks visible markers of multi-layered diversity. There is no information regarding LGBTQ+ identities or racial diversity, making the narrative feel somewhat narrow in its social scope.
