Silvio Amadio’s work uses a psychological lens to examine the tension between bourgeois societal structures and individual impulses. The film deconstructs traditional moral frameworks by reframing institutions like the family and the clergy as catalysts for unrest. While the film lacks racial and explicit LGBTQ+ visibility, it provides a progressive critique of systemic social constraints. It prioritizes the protagonist's role against the oppressive forces of her environment. Ultimately, the film functions as a study of individual desire clashing with the rigid hierarchies of 1970s European society.
