Luigi Zampa’s comedy succeeds in challenging mid-century gender stereotypes by presenting a female protagonist with professional competence and autonomy. Cesira is a partner in crime rather than a passive observer, creating a dynamic of mutual skill. However, the film is limited by its era's lack of diverse representation. The casting is ethnically uniform, focusing strictly on a localized Roman setting without engaging with racial or ethnic diversity. Ultimately, the work prioritizes comedic escapism over critical examination of societal issues. While it explores social exclusion through its characters, it lacks representation for LGBTQ+ identities or disability.
