Diversity & Representation

Overall Score

4.0/10

Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Minimal

The film focuses on a biological crisis within an urban setting. There is no evidence of non-cisnormative identities or narratives addressing heteronormativity.

Gender Representation

Fair

The narrative lacks specific details regarding character arcs or gendered power dynamics. The score reflects a neutral expectation of standard genre tropes.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Excellent

The Bangkok setting centers a Southeast Asian perspective. By making Thailand the protagonist in a global pandemic, the film disrupts Western-centric disaster movie frameworks.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Good

The story uses a biological catastrophe to explore societal breakdown. It suggests a critique of institutional efficacy through the lens of a systemic crisis.

Disability Representation

Minimal

The zombie trope serves as a horror device rather than a depiction of disability. No characters with disabilities are shown possessing agency.

Strengths

  • Centers a non-Western, Southeast Asian perspective by setting the action in Bangkok.
  • Disrupts conventional Western-centric disaster movie frameworks by positioning Thailand as a central protagonist.

Areas for Improvement

  • Lacks evidence of non-cisnormative identities or LGBTQ+ representation.
  • Provides no meaningful depiction of disability or neurodivergence beyond horror tropes.
  • Fails to detail specific character-driven intersectionality or gendered power dynamics.

AI Analysis

The film's primary strength lies in its geographic and ethnic centering. By shifting the locus of agency to a non-Western majority, it provides a localized lens on global systemic failures. However, the narrative lacks depth regarding specific identity-based agency. The absence of verifiable data on intersectional characters prevents a higher overall rating. While the setting is culturally significant, the film relies heavily on established horror tropes that do not actively engage with diverse social identities.
