AI Analysis

After the Years is a character-driven study of domestic fragmentation. It finds its strength in dismantling the myth of the stable nuclear family, presenting kinship as a fluid and often disruptive construct. By focusing on the fallout of divorce, the film offers a nuanced look at how families reconstruct themselves. However, the film operates within a very narrow demographic framework. The lack of racial intersectionality and explicit LGBTQ+ identities limits its progressive reach. It remains a localized European drama that prioritizes interpersonal psychological nuances over broader social diversity.
