This film serves as a somber exploration of the breakdown of the family unit within an urban Russian setting. It shifts focus from the external threat of a serial killer to the internal erosion of the family structure. Though the work lacks diversity in terms of race and sexual orientation, it finds progressive value in its deconstruction of social norms. It uses the tension of a crime thriller to highlight the fragility of traditional family structures. The narrative's strength lies in its refusal to romanticize the family, instead presenting the domestic sphere as a place of systemic emotional dysfunction.
