Léon: The Professional is a complex crime drama that deconstructs traditional authority and gender roles. It replaces standard heroic clichés with a narrative centered on moral relativism and situational ethics. The film's strength lies in its critique of state corruption and its rejection of lawful morality. By framing the protagonist as the moral center against corrupt institutions, it offers a sophisticated, postmodern perspective. However, the film lacks explicit exploration of multi-layered identity politics and contains no LGBTQ+ representation. The controversial power imbalance between the adult and child also affects gender representation scores.
