The incredible story of how the mummified corpse of a 40-year-old man was discovered by a hunter in one of the most remote parts of the country. The dead man's detailed notes reveal that he actually committed suicide through self-imposed starvation only the summer before. Liechti's film is a stunning rapprochement of a fictional text, which itself is based upon a true event: a cinematic manifesto for life, challenged by the main character's radical renunciation of life itself.

AI Analysis
The film is a study in psychological minimalism that prioritizes existential inquiry over demographic breadth. It functions as a cinematic manifesto for life through the lens of a man's radical rejection of it. While the work lacks traditional representation regarding race, gender, and LGBTQ+ identities, it excels in its subversion of cultural norms. It challenges the Western impulse toward social conformity and the sanctity of life. Ultimately, the film's narrow focus is an intentional narrative choice, trading interpersonal diversity for a deep, singular exploration of individual obsession and mortality.
