Off and Running is a sophisticated study that explores how different parts of someone's identity overlap. It challenges conventional social structures by looking at the friction between adoptive upbringing and biological heritage. The film's strength lies in its depiction of a multi-ethnic, non-homogeneous domestic space. By featuring a mixed-race brother and a Korean-Brooklyn sibling, it effectively disrupts traditional Western family archetypes. While the film provides a nuanced look at queer kinship and racial identity, it lacks information regarding disability representation. The focus remains primarily on the protagonist's internal struggle with her heritage.
