Synopsis

On a high mountain, there's a town where a sculpture of a tiger's head is located in a holy shrine. Local people go there to worship the idol and count on. The center of the town is ruled by Jayae and Laikhan, two leaders from two rival local tribes. While the two tribes are fighting for control of the town, the mountain suddenly collapses. In the ensuing chaos, a mysterious man appears from the town's wreckage.

AI Analysis

In The Name of The Tiger is a regional Thai production that prioritizes local mythos and tribal rivalry over progressive social deconstruction. The film functions as a traditional genre piece, focusing on hyper-masculine social structures and the disruption of established hierarchies. While the film succeeds in providing cultural authenticity through its setting and spiritual themes, it fails to offer intersectional complexity. The narrative is tethered to conventional gender roles and lacks representation for LGBTQ+ identities or characters with disabilities. Ultimately, the film offers a localized study of power and leadership within a specific ethnic context, but it does not attempt to subvert systemic social norms.
