Fugitive Lovers operates within the conventional dramatic structures of the 1930s. The narrative prioritizes established crime-drama clichés, focusing on a chase involving a gangster, a chorus girl, and an escaped convict. The film adheres to homogenous casting patterns and straight-centered assumptions common to the era. While the female lead drives the initial plot, she remains tied to traditional gendered archetypes. Ultimately, the production reflects the standard cinematic hierarchies of its time, favoring genre-driven pursuit and romance over social subversion or diverse representation.
