Synopsis

A self sacrificing, selfless mother who makes the impossible "possible" for her daughter - a daughter who is ashamed of her mother and wants to run away from her mother and her life with her. Her journey to the college drives Nazli away from the village she has grown up - but years later, she wants to go back to the village where she was born, back to her mother - after all those years passed by with tons of "I wish". Candan Ercetin performed her song "Annem - Mom" once again for the movie twenty years later.

AI Analysis

The film is a traditional family drama centered on the emotional bond between a mother and daughter. It provides a platform for female-centric storytelling by showcasing a mother's strength and resilience in the face of hardship. However, the narrative relies heavily on conventional tropes. The central conflict revolves around a daughter's shame regarding her mother's lifestyle, which reinforces traditionalist views of domesticity and social hierarchy. Ultimately, the film functions as a conservative domestic drama. It prioritizes the validation of traditional familial structures over progressive or intersectional perspectives.
