Perras is a character-driven ensemble piece that centers the female experience to deconstruct social hierarchies. By confining the action to a single classroom, the film forces a confrontation with the ethics and eroticism of adolescent life. The narrative excels at shifting the focus away from patriarchal structures, allowing young women to navigate autonomy and power. It uses the pressures of a junior high setting to critique broader societal traditions and systemic expectations. However, the film's specific approach to identity remains somewhat broad. While it touches on sexuality and discrimination, the lack of explicit detail regarding specific queer identities or disability representation limits its depth in those areas.
