Menandros & Thaïs blends classic adventure clichés with surrealist deconstruction. It employs a mythic framework to challenge the stability of the hero's identity and the certainty of traditional narrative resolutions. While the film uses conventional setups like the abducted bride, it actively undermines these clichés. By stripping away traditional masculinity and rejecting didactic moral endings, the film introduces thematic complexity. Ultimately, the film's diversity lies in its disruption of linear realism and traditional character archetypes through its odyssey-style structure.
