New Showbiz Analysis

Crime Control is a narrow comedic short that emphasizes a traditional masculine authority figure delivering a monologue about everyday objects. The narrative structure relies on a singular, conventional viewpoint, leaving little room for diverse perspectives. The film reinforces established social hierarchies and institutional authority without challenging them. By framing the 'punishment' of objects through a law enforcement lens, it maintains a rigid, traditionalist framework typical of its era. Ultimately, the work lacks the complexity needed for meaningful characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity. It serves as a straightforward piece of period comedy that avoids social or cultural nuance.

Official Synopsis

A police officer alerts his audience to the fact that inanimate objects can be as dangerous as human criminals. He then displays several offenders that have recently been brought in. Shoelaces, for example, have an objectionable habit of breaking at crucial moments. The officer proceeds to call attention to window shades, bedroom slippers, and other menaces. He also answers his critics who advocate reasoning with these objects rather than punishing them.
