Alice's journey in the film primarily serves as a cautionary tale about accidental drug use. The narrative uses a psychedelic landscape to represent the loss of control and impaired judgment due to substance use. While the story centers around a female protagonist, her role is defined by her vulnerability and passivity. The lack of diverse casting and multi-layered dynamics keeps the scope narrow and traditional. The film's impact lies in its subversion of the traditional home as a safe space, turning it into a place of temptation. However, it does not delve deeply into broader social or identity-based themes.
Category Breakdown
The film does not include any explicit LGBTQ+ characters or dynamics that challenge the assumption that everyone is straight. The story focuses on the protagonist's internal journey through a psychedelic landscape.
Alice serves as the central female character, but her role is weakened by her dependence on substances. She is more of a passive recipient of experiences rather than an active participant.
The cast lacks diversity, and the story does not challenge the dominance of Anglo-Saxon norms. The narrative seems to rely on typical Western character types.
The story transforms the home from a place of safety to one of danger, emphasizing a cautionary message. It prioritizes a warning over the traditional idea of a stable family.
The film explores altered states of consciousness but presents them as consequences of drug use rather than inherent conditions. This portrayal can come across as a cautionary cliché.

Official Synopsis
The story “Alice in Wonderland” is used as a metaphor about the dangers of accidental drug use among children. Curious Alice's trip to Wonderland is not through the rabbit hole, but rather through her home, where the medicine and kitchen cabinets hold substances of lure but danger. After ingesting one of these substances, Alice, now in the Wonderland of her mind, has an altered sense of reality. In her new psychedelic world, she is exposed to more and more drugs, which she may take based on her impaired judgment from the initial drug use.
