Woman of the Mountains is a traditional period drama centered around individual psychological trauma. The narrative structure relies heavily on mid-century romantic conventions, focusing on a male protagonist's struggle with grief. While the film delves into deep psychological themes, it reinforces traditional social hierarchies. The storytelling adheres to the demographic and cinematic norms of 1940s Italy, offering limited characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity. Ultimately, the film functions as a standard melodrama, centering on a heterosexual love triangle where female characters serve primarily as emotional foils to the male lead's internal struggle.
