New Showbiz Analysis

Miguel Gomes’ *Redemption* is a fragmented, meditative study that prioritizes subjective emotional truths over traditional heroic arcs. It uses historical and geographic displacement to explore complex themes of identity and decolonization. The film excels at deconstructing traditional institutions and gender hierarchies, offering a sophisticated, non-traditional approach to storytelling. However, it lacks explicit representation of specific disabilities and non-straight or non-cisgender identities.
