Evenings on a Farm Near Dykanka is a traditional folk-fantasy that prioritizes regional storytelling and classical romantic clichés. It excels in providing a rich, culturally specific atmosphere rooted in Ukrainian village life and imperial grandeur. However, the film lacks multi-layered complexity. Its narrative structure heavily relies on established social hierarchies and traditional romantic formulas, offering limited space for modern subversive deconstruction or diverse identity representation. Ultimately, the film celebrates regional folklore rather than exploring progressive identity issues, resulting in a score that reflects its adherence to traditional storytelling norms.
