Under the Rainbow offers a gritty, realistic look at the systemic failures that force underrepresented youth into unconventional support structures. It avoids a sanitized version of queer life, instead focusing on the urgent struggle for survival and self-actualization. The film excels at deconstructing traditional social hierarchies, replacing patriarchal models with communal leadership. By centering the narrative on those displaced by their own families, it turns the 'found family' cliché into a sharp critique of institutional stability. While the film is deeply invested in LGBTQ+ identity, it lacks explicit detail regarding racial the way different parts of someone's identity overlap or physical disability. This creates a narrow, though intense, focus on identity-based displacement.

Official Synopsis
An association takes in young LGBT people made homeless by their families. Behind the apparent comedy, the excesses, the desire to assert themselves, lie shattered lives. They all have this furious desire to exist, to find their place in society. Here, they have six months to find a job, a place to live and accept themselves as they are. It's a race against time, during which Noëlle, who runs the association, and Alex, who helps her in her mission, are also forced to face up to their own failings and question their motivation for helping others.
