Last Wedding is a character-driven drama centered on the interpersonal frictions of three Vancouver couples. It avoids idealized domesticity, opting instead for a cynical, postmodern realism that explores professional jealousy and infidelity. The film succeeds in challenging traditional gender roles by highlighting the tension caused by female professional success. However, it remains a narrow study of middle-class dynamics. Ultimately, the work lacks multi-layered depth and diverse casting. It functions as a conventional contemporary drama rather than a vehicle for broader social or identity-based critique.

The narrative leans toward secular, urban realism. It avoids religious morality, focusing instead on the subjective morality of individual choices and careerism.
